Scholarship Opportunities for Informatics Students

Business and Professional Women's Career Advancement Scholarship Program
Business and Professional Women (BPW) provides scholarship support of $500 to $1,000 to assist women who are 25 years of age or older, and seeking education necessary for entry or re-entry into the workforce, or advancement within a career field. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, and must demonstrate financial need. See the BPW web site for additional information on eligibility requirements, and application procedures. Scholarship applications must be postmarked on or before April 15 to be considered eligible.

Microsoft Scholarships
Microsoft is committed to building the pipeline of future computer scientists. These scholarships are designed to encourage students to pursue studies in computer science and related technical disciplines. Students from across the United States, Canada, and Mexico will be awarded scholarships in recognition of their passion for software, academic excellence, and ability to make a difference in the software industry. They offer four types of technical scholarships to current undergraduate students: General Scholarship, Women's Scholarship, Underrepresented Minority Scholarship, and Scholarships for Students with Disabilities.

Informatics Scholarships
The Information School is pleased to offer The William E. Henry Scholarships and The Boeing Informatics Diversity Scholarships for continuing Informatics majors. The scholarships are awarded to outstanding Informatics majors who have demonstrated achievements in the areas of a) academic merit, b) demonstration of leadership potential, and/or c) service or involvement in the School and/or the larger community. Financial need may also be considered for the Boeing Diversity Scholarship.

To be considered for the scholarships, the student must be continuing in the Informatics program in the 2007-08 year. For the 2007-08 year, the Henry Scholarships will be awarded to three continuing majors in the amount of $2000 each. The Boeing Informatics Diversity Scholarships will be awarded to three continuing majors in the amount of $3000 each. The nomination/application deadline is May 15, 2007. The recipients of the scholarship awards will be announced in June.

This nomination form may be used by faculty, students, and employers to nominate individuals for the Henry and/or Boeing Diversity scholarships. UW faculty may nominate students with whom they have worked, Informatics students may nominate their peers or themselves, and employers (from on or off campus) may nominate outstanding interns/employees. Students are encouraged to nominate themselves.
